    I am trying to find out about board of trade pension my last trip was on the blue star ship afric star in 1975

    Merchant Navy fund for ratings didn't start until 1978.

    You sure Alec? What was around before that then? Definitely something. I joined the Pool in '72 and BP in '75. About ten years later I think it was I got a letter informing me that as I had not contributed for that period I was entitled to be reimbursed what I had paid in. Must be honest and never knew I had paid anything. Got a rebate of an extremely small amount of money. £60 stickss in mind but this was obviously many moons ago so my memory may be shot.

    I was part of the new MNRPF in 1980. I was told the previous one Alec refers to collapsed around 1978 and all money was lost.
