Ha Ha ! Colin,sounds like a great trip.Actually there's not as many spelling mistakes in your post as you think.I must explain ,I am a proofreader and certainly I have seen far worse postings on here !-please guys don't all scream at once,or paint my 'jewel pouch' area with red lead and lock me in the chain locker like they did when I was being a bit precocious -or was it precious- ,maybe the same thing-oh,just remembered the word is 'prat'! ,on my first trip. Actually the red lead wasn't the painful part.((there's a plethora of alliterative 'p's in this paragraph ),!,no,it was the rubbing it off with kerosene which hurt the most. I remember.nothing grew back in the garden for a long time...
So Gleasons/Gleesons ,loose/lose- sounds like you asked for it letting 'loose' your cherry in a place like that in an attempt to 'lose' it. !
Not really getting in the mood for Christmas yet,but just heard two jokes,oldies but goodies, on the radio this morning;
"Ee,when I were groin'up in Ramsbottom (other funny sounding Northern place-names are available)-we were so poor we all sat round a candle for warmth-and when it were really cold-we lit it !"
'I think that RNLI Christmas parties are the very best- they really know how to push the boat out!' Attachment 34094

Well Cappy I was called a troll by the guy I am informed.
He said I was a waiter on a boat.
Sailed on may ships but never on a boat.
Did not think life boats needed waiters.
"you want the fish sir, wont be long, just going to throw a lone over the stern, see what I can catch;'
Thanks for the memory Peter. Reminds me of similar experiences on the Canadian Pacific Liverpool-Montreal run in the 60s.
Keep safe. Terry
Anyone who's done the Kiwi Coast in the sixties and seventies would certainly have some stories to tell.

Now Vernon, you must understand that at that time we were all young inosent lads.
But while just having a quiet drink we were often taken by the local Cougars, and yes there were so many, and taken advantage of.
I know it happened to me on numerous occasions just because I was a young good looking lad.
That is my story and I am sticking to it.
Those girls in Cape Town and Durban had no morals, taking advantage of British sailors indeed.
