Another leftover from last month's Crystal jaunt:

A guest here on the Crystal Serenity remembered crossing from Southampton to New York in 1957 onboard the mighty United States.

"We hit very bad September weather -- and slowed down and were late by 6-8 hours," he told me. "But the United States was so powerful that we made-up the time and on the last day we were back on schedule. But when we reached New York harbor on time, just before dawn, there was a tugboat strike. So, we slowly went up along the Hudson -- and then the captain & his officers & pilot had to carefully, very carefully, dock the ship without tugs. It was a slow process -- it took over 2 hours!"
