Re: Suicide and our Armed Forces
Think Australian Army recruitment will be in the doldrums for a while . If the answer had been in the opposite the media reporting would have received the justice they deserve so many times when divulging other stories and their believability would have been Zilch . Too much to lose ? JS

I doubt he will be allowed to let sleeping dogs lie Doc, whether he wants to or not. What I find disturbing is, that from reports we read here is that so far none of the alleged crimes have so far been proven and the judge gave the ruling on the basis that in all 'probability' they were correct. So the rulings made by armchair generals who probably have no idea what the life on the front line is like, where your enemy does not wear a uniform, wears flowing robes for ease of concealment, has an indoctrinated hatred of the infidel and the ability to place IED's anywhere and everywhere and also takes no prisoners and usually mutilates and tortures before dispatch.

Re: Suicide and our Armed Forces
My curiosity Ivan was drawn to this case later when I saw one of the reporters as a bloke called Coulthard . The reason I repeated the interview he did in 2012 and tried to crucify the master of the ship who was not present, he appeared to me to be an arrogant SOB. Typical no idea of what he was talking about. Its all effect with his commanding presence and talking over the top of people . I think that case or his case was thrown out of court , and i hope my letter assisted in the process. How anyone can think he is a good journalist I really dont know. Would not carry him as ballast . Cheers JS
Investigative journalists they call themselves , half should be back at school learning their ABCs JS

Re: Suicide and our Armed Forces
It is not the case where someone can be found guilty of a crime such as murder in a civil court.
In this case the man in question has no charges of any kind laid before him, then in the court case some soldiers refused to give evidence on the grounds od self incrimination.
This story has a long way to go, calls for his medals to be removed and his uniform removed from a museum where it sits now.
But even though the judge said there was no doubt he was guilty no suggestion that he should be charged with the alleged crime.
Some thing very odd about this and with the form of some journalists one has to wonder what is the ttruth.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: Suicide and our Armed Forces
Looks ideal replacement for Daniel Craig , could he be the next James Bond 007. Bet he would have a few of the ladies & perhaps lads in todays modern world getting themselves all hot and bothered. Only problem is James Bond was a commander in the Navy and not the SAS!!!

Re: Suicide and our Armed Forces
Well sorry to be a prat, but some of what happened is proven. The stupid pictures posted by those soldiers drinking from the mans Prosthesis leg tells the story about what happened to him.

Re: Suicide and our Armed Forces
No worse than drinking champagne out of a ladies slipper Des. I would be gagging if did it with my wife’s would be thinking of her bunions . There has to be a pressure release valve when working with mutilation and to go humeruous is better than going maudlin. That’s why I agree with the Irish way of Wakes rather than sitting weeping in a pew. Rather be celebrating the corpses past life and not his death.Cheers JS
When trying to count heads on the morning of the 8/9 July 1988 , the coxn of the FRC said to me one of the deck first trippers said to him , “ Is it always like this every night ?” Naw he said “only every second night” . I couldn’t stop laughing for about half an hour, I thought It was being very disrespectful to 167 men, when sanity returned I had a laugh at myself for being so straight laced. JS .

Re: Suicide and our Armed Forces
Another one when having to do a job not very nice was removing two bodies from an aircraft which hit the sea at an estimated 1000 knots . Cutting their bodies out of the fuselage there had to be joking going on , the job I feel otherwise would never have got done . There always has to be people to pick up the pieces. My sympathies go out to our hospitals, police, and fire services , they face other people’s deaths and sometimes their own , on a daily basis. Cheers JS

Re: Suicide and our Armed Forces
The "rules of engagement" for our troops in active service zones have been set by brain dead politicians who have never had to face an armed person intent on taking you out. The Afghanistan debacle is a case in point. In order to engage the Taliban our troops had to positively identify that the insurgents were openly displaying their weapons. No weapons sighted, action not to be taken. Taliban hide weapons beneath their dish-dash clothing. Not legitimate targets. Bonkers.
