    Default Another good man gone

It is with deep regret that I announce the death of my good friend and neighbour, Mr. Alan McCleverty.
He passed away on Friday 20th March at his home with his family at his side. He was 76, and a popular and well liked
man in the village where he lived.
My condolences go to his family.

Alan was a soldier, and attained the rank of Lance Corporal in the Royal Signals Regiment, 225 Signal Squadron, and
    his army No. was 23849610.

During his career, he served in Northern Ireland, Germany, and Saudi Arabia,- during which he wore uniform with pride.

After leaving the Army in 1968, he married, and for a short time lived in Gosport, (ironically just a few doors from where I used to live).
He then moved to Wales where he devoted his life to his family.
He then joined the Milford Haven Army cadets with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Putting his radio operators experience to good use, he then took up as a Amateur Radio enthusiast with the call sign GWOVEM
ans was later awarded the Amateur Radio award on 04/05/95.
Such was his love for his radio, that on several occasions, whilst talking over the fence, I noticed that he seemed bleary eyed,
This, he explained was from talking to the world for most of the night!!

Alan had a keen interest in the railway, (we both lived in full view of passing trains), and over the years he amassed a vast collection
    of railway books and magazines.

Never forgetting his Army Service, every Armistance Day he would take his place at the local service of rememberance come rain or shine.

Alan.s funeral was held on the 20th. March, followed by cremation at Park Gwyn crematorium.

    GOOD-BYE OLD FRIEND
    SLEEP WELL

    Colin.
