Default Anzac Day Ahead "Lest we Forget"

May I on behalf of the many many Thousands of not only Australians, but all other Nations that were involved in the terrible Wars all over, plus the memories of the ANZAC'S that fought so gallantly during their terrible time in many places, may we ALL please remember those brave young Men,who ultimately gave their lives doing what they believed in!

Let us one and all Bow our Heads once again in Tribute and Respect for so many that died during those conflicts!

ANZAC Day is commemorated here on the 25th April (Wednesfay) and will once again be a memorable and Sombre occasion at all the Dawn Services!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

    "Lest We Forget"

Let us also listen to the Haunting "Last Post"that is played at the end of the Day

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McCDWYgVyps

In military tradition, the Last Post is the bugle call that signifies the end of the day's activities. It is also sounded at military funerals to indicate that the soldier has gone to his final rest and at commemorative services such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day

Took this photo of the ANZAC MEMORIAL at GERBEL MARLYAM Suez as I passed through the Canal in 1950,
was on the "PORT VICTOR" at the time, even got an army truck, didn't realize at the time was an added bonus.

Photo taken with my DADS 1930s Brownie Box Camera...Came out well...

I go every year to the ceremony of the vacant chair, on or about Anzac Day. The 28 years I have been out here the numbers have never diminished on attendance, and hope this year is the same if not more. As the world draws nearer and nearer to a bigger conflict than all those since the last world war people should look back and realise that they are proceeding in the same direction as their forefathers, and only hope they have the same sense of honour to their country as they had.

Anzac Day 2018 – what is it and how is it marked at the Australia war memorial in Hyde Park Corner in London?

Aussie and Kiwi militaries are preparing to celebrate their men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

    Hi Guys,

Just back from our RCNA meeting.
    Big plans for ANZAC day.
Special parade at the local Military Base, including a Fly Past.

For the first time in our area.
I am laying a wreath on Battle of Atlantic Day, in honour of the Merchant Navy.

So after five years of trying, we now also have all three communities flying the "Duster" on September 3.

Thank you all for the encouragement and support over the past few years.
Without you, I think I would have given up.

    Best regards.
    Den.

    ps

When I asked at the meeting about laying a wreath for the MN.
    The President jokingly asked.
Were the Merchant Navy involved in the BOA.
Brought a big laugh from the members.
He also wondered why we have not been doing it all these years.?

    Good on you Den
We need more like you mate to try and do as much as we can to keep the Merchant Navy going and known.
Its a real pity and shame really that still so many don't know of the Services and sacrifices the Lads in the Merchant Navy made, without them I wonder what would have happened??
    Cheers

We took a group of local men to the Shrine of Remembrance here in Melbourne last Friday, all over 70 so for some a little emotional.

It will be the big march next Wednesday and this year there will be some changes.
The parade will be led by females for the first time, family members all allowed to wear medals will now be at the back of the parade.

The Australian MN has in the past been represented but only by a few, it is not given much space.

0600 hours there will be a service there followed by the Gun Fire breakfast.
Parade begins at about 0930 hours and at the end another service will be held at the Shrine.

Have been to a n umber of these over the years, but this year will attend the local RSL one.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Nice photo Fred and glad you got the truck in as it gives it a sense of scale, which is what every good photograph should show and makes the monument even more impressive
