Default Union Flag at a funeral.

    Hi All
    just a follow on.
My father-in-law is being cremated soon, he survived world war 2 serving in the Tank Regiment and lived to the ripe old age of 90.
Recently we have found out that if you where a member of the Armed forces you are entitled to have the "Union Flag" draped over the coffin prior to burial or cremation.
A bit morbid I know, but it could be of some small comfort to those bereaved families whom have relatives that served their country.

    Hi Graham,.
Contact your local SSAFA Branch and they will provide a union flag and may also provide a bugler playing theLast Post.
They help all old Servicemen with many things.
    Cheers
    Brian.

    Default The last post

When someone died in the prisoner of war camp they always had a bugler to play the the last post but when we was under the control of the Japanese Navy they forbid this
Being under the their control we was to abide by their discipline like corporal punishment and it was not funny

John, Shamefully I have to admit that I never knew that there were words to the LAST POST, and like many others, get a tear in my eye whenever I hear it played. In line with this, I get a lump in my throat whenever I see on t.v. film of an American firemans' funeral with an all pipe band playing 'Amazing Grace'.
Yeah, I'm a big softie too!

    Regards

    Colin
