Discharge Certificate Of A Militiaman.

This was my Dads first try at getting into the Army, but only made it for 2 days.

Name. Frederick Lacey. who was enlisted to serve in the Militia of the County of London on the

18th February. 1907 has been discharged on the 20th February. 1907.

Reason.. Mistatement as to age. Place and Date. Stratford. 20th February. 1907.

Height...........5 ft..2.7/8 inches.
Complexion....Fresh.
Eyes..............Blue.
Hair...............Brown.
Trade.............Labourer. Iron Foundry.

The story goes that when his mother (my gran) found out she rushed down to the enlisment centre and got him out.
His dad died when he was 4 at the age of 37 years in 1896 with Pneumonia, so his mum had to bring up 5 children on her own.
