This was my first ship, I did five trips on her as Bell Boy, until she was scrapped in 1961.
A happy ship, sailed between London/Southampton and Hong Kong.Via Port Said, Aden,Bombay, Columbo, Georgetown Penang, and Singapore. Carried cargo and I think about 350 passengers, both Tourist and First Class

Anybody else out there who sailed on this wonderful vessel ?

G'day Bob, on the Corfu did you ever come across a guy in catering by the name of Keith Levett? Good mate of minw who went to sea in about 1959 for his first voyage.

My goodness!! I think this guy was a Bell Boy on my first trip in May 1960, there were six of us in one cabin. Keith Levett had been in catering prior to joining the M.N. and as a result of this didnīt need to go to Sea Training School. Others I remember were a Mick Jarman, Lofty, Barry.

If it is the same guy he was Tourist coffee boy, working for Bert Willis, tourist barman.

Hi there I am Mick Jarman but I dont think I am the one you remember. I went to t.s vindecatrix ( I think thats how it was spelt ) round about 1956. My fist ship was the Esso lucky star one of the old T 2 tankers as a cabin boy. seems like another lifetime.

I was on the Chusan and often saw other ships of the line: Stratheden, Strathnaver, and even the Corfu. I was in one of the Med ports one trip, can't remeber where. The Corfu was tied up so me and some of my mates popped on board to have a chat with some old mates. All I can say is that I was glad I was on the Chusan: sheer luxury by comparison.

Hi Bob, last time I heared from him, January, he was still living in Greenwich and running his car business with his brother. Talking of retirement maybe this year, hope to hear from him soon as he owes me a letter. Will pass your regards on to him. Last posting from Brenda, his ex, Keith and I were working in Gulidford Surrey back in about 1966 when he met her.
