Gone but not forgot.
RIP.
Keith.
They come all the good ones, leave their mark and the sail over the horizon.
One hopes they forever sail om calm waters.
I spent some time with Lou both in Liverpool and at Lou`s home in Dunedin, NZ. with his family.
A great man indeed. and great memories.
Here are the photos.
me and Lou in his local Pub in Dunedin,
one of him, Peggy his lovely wife who sadly dies a few months later, and daughter Brenda.in 2012 in Dunedin,
A lovely young lady around 14 years of age who was very interested in Lou and his story to her of some of his wartime ships and time in Changi as a PoW. He went to sea at the age of 14, in WW2
Always REMEMBERED.

All Fixed Keith!
Cheers
Lovely photos Brian, never met him, but read all his posts, great respect for him, kt
It came to mind some time ago when i read Lou,s post about his time in a Jar prison camp, and Lou would have been , going on todays classification of children, still a child !!!!, as it seems today 16-17 year old are still children or minors. I went to sea at 16 year old, today would still be a child or minor, and the thought of Lou and what he went through, ie ship he was on attacked by the Germans, your mates killed, then transferred to Japs etc, some experience at a very young age, you could not grow up any faster than he did, kt
I remember watching his funeral in Dunedin,
it was streamed by the Funeral Company and I got on my computer at 3 am here in UK, all his family and friends were there, at the Service.
Quite a sad event, but so glad that I watched it and able to say Good Bye.
Brian
To have gone through what he had to during the war, being in a Jap prisoner of war camp and coming out alive says a lot for him.
Not just his physical self but his inner strength and fortitude.
Many never made it, but he did and went on to live a very prodcutive life
The young of today could learn a lot from such a man on how to get over the complexities of life.
Always a gentleman.
We lost one of a kind.
Den.
