They are Lou, but as we know they will only publish shock articles thta may sell copy, and if they do try to sell the truth it will be their version not always the exact truth.

Sadder still Lou, is that we oldies must now consider ourselves dinosaurs with no relevance in todays world.

Let US remember, NO one can take away OUR memories. Live for today! Cheers, Eric
On the morning of V.E. Day , May 8 . Switched on the Tele. For the early morning News .Confidently expecting to see some reference
    to the occasion.
Not a dicky bird! The Major reference was to the Fact ,that some Aussie Rules player , had been exonerated by the Tribunal on a Striking charge. The runners at the bottom of the Screen, were all to do with, previous days results.
    Continued flicking patiently through
the Channels .For the next hr. or so. To no avail.(Satisfying the Sponsors)? Though even the National carrier A.B.C. .made no mention.

Last Friday ,at Tweed Heads. We attended the funeral of A member of the S.E Qld ,Vindi & M.N Mariners Association. Being a little early. Brian Humphries (x Wallasey . Bos'n and A,B.) and I. Decided on a coffee. A busy little place on the Coolangatta Sea -front.
Our Blazer Badges, drew some attention . As we were leaving to go. Three of the Cafe Society.at a nearby table.Ask what the M.N. stood for . Youngsters ? No! Not one of the three enquirers would have been under sixty. I. Despair!

Strange thing about recognition. Wearing my M.N. Veterans badge I'm often asked if the Red Duster on the background is the Ontario Provincial flag since it's very similar. Bit tired of explaining what the difference is. But with medal paraphernalia and Canadian Legion Dress during Poppy week, lots of schoolchildren ask questions and people are very generous
    donors.

    Cheers, Eric

Evan mate, footy of any sort takes priority in this nation over every thing. They are now talking footy on Good Friday here in Melbourne and that is ALL they are talking about.

Alas Eric, the story of our life, my Red Ensign flown outside my house has been taken as 'British Communist party' : Canadian Flag amongs't others, my silver badge as 'Male Nurse', my veterans badge again as Canadian, again communist party etc. Have been told I'm too young (76!) to be the owner of a veterans badge, alas these people have never heard of Korea (was too young), Suez, Malaya, Aden, Falklands amongs't others that the MN served in/at. That is from people who live in a small island who think that the goods in their shops are all grown or manufactured in this country, that is! even if they think about it and I live in a coastal town on a coast with numerous ports. Do not despair alone, you are in good company there is one hell of a lot of us despairing, alas we are getting fewer as time passes. I do try to politely enlighten the miscreants if asked about the badges but at times it is an hammer and chisel job!

John! It's a pity ye can't interrupt all the channels and put on RTE the Irish TV channel on Good Friday. That would quieten them. Shut down day in the old sod. No pubs, cinemas etc. , a day to be holy and even us atheists enjoy the tranquility.
