I am overcome with the comments and support for my effort to write a book thanks guys it makes it worthwhile

I must mention about the help I got early last year when I did mention about wtiting a book from Ian Malcolm but being so far away I thought it would be a bit hard to do so with my sincere thoughts to Ian thank you

When I did mine I mad a number of copies on disk and sent to various family members. They amy, or may not read them but copies like thta will at some time in the future surface again with maybe their children. As long as we record the history it will at some time be there for future generations to read.

Hi shipmates, there are many more of us,{ out there} ex merchant navy crew all ages on the beach who would like to become members of this great forum, but cant use a computer or are put off by there reading and spelling skills... as many of us old gits, did not spend much time in school, but worked for a living...10,000 should be 30,000 or more?

As mentioned before Louis, reading, spelling, grammar etc are not important on this ship, so anybody looking in who may be hesitant about joining in, please don't be, because you are not going to get marks out of ten, we want you and your stories of your past regardless of spelling etc, most of us only attended the university of life starting from anything from 13 years old to 16 years old, our further education and reading was aided by Mickey Spillane, Wilbur Smith, and Harold Somebody (was it Robbins) who wrote explicit sexy novels. So don't be shy join the fray, all are welcome aboard this ship which has mostly smooth sailing

There are Seniors computer awareness gatherings here and I would imagine elsewhere that can be quite enjoyable and at little if any cost. Spelling, grammar etc is not an issue and can give the right flavour to relating an experience. I would happily help any shipmate that wanted to learn and I am sure there's many of us that would also willingly do so. The first thing would be to offer to show what it is all about and gradually get into basics enough to type and send an email and guide if a computer is wanted. And be ready to help when needed.

you can obtain the records of every ship you sailed on including dates.it used to be the guildhall library in london but i think it has moved. maybe doc vernon can help. good hunting.

As I have said before one of the best ships I have been on I think the one I like is Friendship on this site

I take it Alf the library has moved and not the building, unless of course the Yanks ahve bought it!
