There is now an annual cruise with Princess that stops at the site of the wreck and holds a small service of rememberance.

Lou, I had the privilege to do three trips on the MV Koolinda, of HMAS Sydney fame. I had my first bout of malaria having previously sailed to Papua New Guinea and the New Hebrides. I came down with it crossing the Bight on Adelaide Steamship's MV Manunda and was hospitalised in Fremantle. When I was fit the Manunda had long gone and I signed on the Koolinda waiting for Manunda to return.

Our route was up the West Australian coast ports to Darwin and return and she was a happy ship. Here is a link to her HMAS Sydney story and pictures. I wonder if any shipmate knows of the crew who signed the 1948 New Years dinner menu.
Quite a lot of info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koolinda
    Cheers, Richard
