Hey guys
Hi, not sure if this group can help but I’m trying to find any information on my husbands grandfather
His name was David William Clark Oxenham, he was in ww2? Merchant navy, he died at sea around 1940-45
We only know this because we have a scroll that says this scroll commemorates d w c Oxenham merchant navy held in honour as one who served king and country in the world war of 1939-1945 and gave his life to save mankind from tyranny etc
We know he married in Mauritius but not sure if he was born there or moved there, he had my father inlaw in 1935 who was the youngest.
Father inlaw passed away in March and can’t get more information yet from other family members
Thanks

Re: Hey guys
Hey guys
Sorry I don’t have his birthdate as we can’t get any more information from family as there really isn’t anyone left
He was either born in Mauritius (we know he is related to the first generation born Edward Clark Oxenham that started the first wine company in Mauritius)
Or he came from England
My father inlaw (his son) was the youngest of 6? And my father inlaw was born 1935, and we know David William Clark Oxenham died around 1940-45. His wife Marie Émilie Ursule Dantier died around 1936 when father inlaw was a toddler
David and Marie married 1922 in Mauritius
Sorry wish I could help more but I’m struggling with finding anything
It’s strange that there’s nothing online about him considering he got the scroll. I’m
Also on ancestry and nothing from that either 😔

Re: Hey guys
Emma
I have done another troll through my regular Sites and also a new one ,but still no trace of him.
Very Similar case with a post by Capt Kong .so now we sit with two elusive Pimpernels! LOL
sorry that we cannot go a bit deeper into this ,but my resources are now depleted!
Hope that some day something may turn up who knows.
Best of luck anyway ,keep searching !
Cheers
