    16/06/1940 by German Submarine U-101 300 miles off Cape Finisterre, in position 42.39N, 17.01W (5) on her inward leg of her maiden voyage.52 survivors were landed at Casablanca having been picked up by the Pierre L.D., Louis Dreyfus & Cie. 17 others beached their lifeboat at Figueria and reached Oporto.

    thanks for the info!
    as you are probably aware my father is deceased.
    he died in 1969.
    it was his mother that showed us the telegram, MISSING PRESUMED DEAD.
    that was 49 years ago!
    so any information is really great!
    thanks for all your help!!
    when he returned from service he had ringworm on both legs,i believe from being in the water for so long?
    the last date of discharge is 16/06/1940, Liverpool,but signature of master/officer date is 05/07/1940.

    His medal card will be on the national archives discovery website

    Will cost £3.50 but will indicate the war zones he thought in

    Have looked at the Medal Cards at NA Discovery but nobe f that exact name come up,there are two names listed but wrong Initials and DOB?? Do you perhaps have a link ?? For person we seek here!
