Hello and thanks for letting me join.
Hi,
I'm not a sailor, I'm conducting research into the transport by sea of zoo specimens between Tasmania and London during the 1920's, I've joined here looking for some advice. I hope that's OK, I'll check here first though whether that's permissible before posting further.
Thanks for reading.

Re: Hello and thanks for letting me join.
At this moment in time Gareth if you were an expert in transport by sea of livestock you could maybe give advice to the shippers of live sheep from Fremantle to the Middle East. The picture of that trade is hitting the TV screens here with obscene views of animal cruelty and death in the thousands over the past few years. Hope at least some of your enquiries may produce some answers you may be looking for. Although going back to the 20s would be by others word of mouth. Second or third hand. Best of luck. Regards JWS

Re: Hello and thanks for letting me join.
Hi Gareth.
Hope you get some replies for your project, some tough assignments have been solved on site.
The only thing I know about transporting animals is when in 1950 we took some racehorses from the UK to Freemantle, then around 1960 carried a circus from Nelson across the Cook Straits to Wellington in NZ .
Out of interest what sort of zoo animals where transported in those days?
Cheers Des

Re: Hello and thanks for letting me join.
Animals from Tasmania for London Zoo.
Was it Tassie with such as the Tasmanian Devil, an animal only found there.
Or maybe some of the Rock Wallabies also only from there.
A number of unusual animals exist in Australia and some only found in Tassie, so it may well be a very interesting task for you.
Good luck.

Re: Hello and thanks for letting me join.
Zoo specimens can be any animal, there is no mention of cattle, but as I have stated there are numerous animals there and only there.
