Okay Shelha, found your mum's marriage in 1971 to TW Sorry Marian ??? I don't get that!?? sorry! ???
Hi Doc Shelha's mum did not marry her birth father. She married a chap with the initials T.W. G---.[ don't want to disclose his full name] in 1971. Shelha's maternal grandmother's maiden name of Worth is not needed to locate her birth father. Without ''Billy's'' Libyan name or what it sounded like we are thwarted....unless there is a MN register somewhere of him arriving in the UK for his placement....but we still need a name. A possibility is for Shelha to have the photograph she owns published with her story in the Libyan press/radio but not sure that is an option there? Simplest route is facebook with her name and history but he would have to be looking for her. As in my previous post unless Shelha's family can provide 'Billy's' surname or what it sounded like.... or his correct first name there is nothing for me to start a search with. I will try though with Billy, Seaman from Libya, born 1940/49 an Electrician arriving in Plymouth around 1964/65
Hello again Shelha, As I thought no information on your birth father with just the name Billy. Looked into your mum's family and there is a lady called Karen Chasty on Ancestry.com with your grandparents, aunt & mum's details including her husband in her family tree. If you don't recognise her name would you like me to get in touch on your behalf for an introduction between you? She just might know something...... Marian

A hard one this indeed! If only we could get a Ships name then possibly we could try and see the Crew names that sound like it could be a Libyan name? But that too is going to be tough! Yes I know we don't need her Mothers name ,just posted it for a stater. So on we plod! Cheers She married a chap with the initials T.W. G---. OK Got that as well, will not publish!

Just a thought! With the location being Plymouth. Could it possibly have been a R.N. posting, Devonport, and that?
Hi Marian, No - one knows anything really, I have one uncle, my mum's brother who remembers him, but had moved away but only that he was nicknamed 'Billy'; we have assumed it is not his real name. I don't know anything, unfortunately, except my mum telling me one day that daddy has had to go back to his own country or if he stayed would have to face the consequences. It has made it so difficult because my mum died when I was a child, sure she would have had so much to tell me. - - - Updated - - - Well, not sure, where would I go with that?
Hi again Marian, Wow I am overwhelmed with everyone's help. thank you. I do not recognise Karen Chasty, but I am happy for your to get in touch if you are happy to.
#17, Hi Shelha no name is a problem for sure. Can you ask your uncle if he knows where your father might have lived or frequented whilst in Plymouth, did he have any friends that's he's aware of, did your mum have a best friend she might have confided in? Hoping some members on here might be able to inform as to where your father might have had to register on arriving in Plymouth for his ''electrical secondment'' Can but hope having to return home or face the consequences does not bode well unless attitudes have mellowed....in that case he may be looking for you! Have you tried putting your details on facebook? You may be called after your paternal grandmother, someone there might recognise your/his story. What about my#14 post do you want me to contact that lady she did have your mum's details in her tree..... #18, Will do now Shelha, keep looking in

Hi Marian, I am not 100% he is Libyan, but that was what my mum told me. I have sent off to Ancestry DNA to get the origins hopefully will get this in next 4-6 weeks. I assume my dad lived with my mum and nan and grandad at Tresillian Street, Cattedown, Plymouth. I think I have started something here, sorry! Could it have been Royal Navy?? My husband did put something out on Facebook for me a while ago. Yes please contact Karen Chasty if you don't mind. Again, thank you for all your attention.
