Re: New member
Hi,perhaps I should reveal my interest in merchant shipping,I have had over the past 6 months a deep interest in the Liverpool,Brazil &River Plate Steam Navigation Co.Ltd,and specifically Lamport&Holt Line refrigerated boats used for the carriage of beef from the River Plate zone.To cut a story short I have a very deep obsession with anything to do with Liebig Extract of Meat Company, which became Anglo then Fray Bentos. So my interest is specifically ships that operated out of Liverpool, and I now have Paul Heaton's book 'Lamport&Holt Line. One day I hope to visit Fray Bentos and the old Anglo dock site in Bueno Aires
Cheers Paul

Re: New member
Fray Bentos rings a bell. Beef pies in a flat can. Very tasty and just the thing if there's no refrigerator.
Welcome aboard Paul.

Re: New member
RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus could not get enough of Fray Bentos pies, would take loads over every trip to the med for the boys.
Loved all flavours, then came along Chicken curry pie.
Good pint or two in Tommy Tuckers and back to dinner with the family on camp.
The called the pies Sweeney Todds, from mother England, to avoid any Argy Bargy.
