Hello
Hello everyone - I joined the forum because my father was in the service and looking at some of the posts brought back memories of childhood.
My father was called Captain Trefor Owen and he worked for Moller Line UK on oil tankers, mainly in Hong Kong. I found this forum because I was trying to remember the names of ships he'd worked on, and googling the names brought this site up. I don't know when he joined because it was before I was born but he died tragically young aged 44 in 1971 so that was when he left. The ship names I remember were Grosvenor Explorer and possibly something like Horama?

Re: Hello
City of Leeds -Would need a whole coil of halyard for each of those flag halyards on the mainmast, when renewing making sure you bend/sew new/old ones together, as if come apart on the sheave, you've got one hell of a climb to re-reeve and I liked mast climbing.

Re: Hello
#8, Hi Doc, T Owen from Ffestiniog was born in March 1927, that rules him out.
T Owen born St. Asaph has the middle initial D, not mentioned by Ceri, unfortunately he died in 2000.
The T Owen I have listed in #4 matches Ceri's Owen in DOB, his Discharge No is:R308737 not sure if that heip's you?
Until Ceri returns and confirms place of birth...[if known] can only look for Trefor Owen ships matching aspiring Rank.
The Trefor I believe to be correct, married Joan Alexandra Sorley in March 1950 in Portsmouth, Hampshire. His place of birth should be listed on the marriage cert. Again Ceri will have to confirm if on right path.

Re: Hello
There seems to be a gap between Initials as far as the CRS10 goes as the first reference which is

Owen Henry to Owen Judwal Richard |
Date: |
1941 Jan 01 - 1972 Dec 31 |

Which would not include his Initial of T
Then the previous Reference in sequence which is
Also does not cover that T initial??? So that is a mystery!
