My first car was a Morris 14 of 1937.
I was in my alehouse at home when I was on leave in 1956, Someone shouted, "Who wants to buy a car,"?
I, who had far too much ale, shouted , "Me, how much," he says £10, I said I only have £7, "That will do " he says. gives me a log book, a key and said , "Its outside the door"
At closing time I went out and there it was, I climbed into it, I had NEVER DRIVEN a car before.
I banged it into first gear and drove all the way home in bottom gear...
Next day I cleaned it and found a two shilling piece under the seat, so my car cost me £6 18s.
I went to Insure the car, The Man said `£5,` WHAT! £5 ? my mates only pay £2, [ THIS IS FOR THE YEAR, ]
He says, "You are a Seaman and Seamen are always Drunk, so you pay more.".
I was home for Six weeks and learned to drive., Had No Licence , Then on my last night at home, before joining a Blue Star boat to OZ next morning, I went to town in it. and on the ale again.
Next morning up early with a hangover, looked through the window, NO CAR,
Dad tells me , I came home in a Taxi, so the car must be in town somewhere,
I had to get to Liverpool on the train and left. I came home Five months later and searched and searched , but Never saw my car again.
Today it would be worth about £15,000.
    Cheers
    Brian

My first car was this 1940 something Chevvy bought from Stoneys Auto Mart in Danforth, Toronto. Here it is parked outside the house of the brother and family of a girl friend in suburban Ottawa, whom we drove up from Toronto to spend the 1954 Easter weekend with.

First car in Canada. 1955 Pontiac. Built like a tank. After a few years, I sold it for $100. Must have been crazy.

Den, in 1953 went down to Niagara Falls from Toronto with some friends who had this Pontiac. I took this photo en route in Hamilton, Ont.

That's the one Richard. Built like a tank.
Recall my wife backing into a wall. It fell down, but not a mark on the car.
