Well I did not play a musical instrument in my earlier years but I now have a Fender Guitar which I like to think I can play quite well but a certain Mr Paul McCartney would probably think otherwise.

Unfortunately with me Mike i used to have a Piano Accordian ,which i played it was one of those 120 Base Hohner (Red) ones quite Heavy.
I had it at Sea for a while but it got too Cumbersome so I left it in the care of my dear Late Mum,while I was away at Sea.
Once I left the MN I again started to play it at Home ,but then sort of went away from it once I purchased my Motorbike, the Silver 500 Twin Matchless.
Sold the Accordian of course ,and sadly have no Pics for my Memories!
Never tried the Guitar but loved them as well.

I bought a mandolin of the Bosun on my first trip, he wanted some money for a run ashore, tried playing it hopeless, he bought it back . Had a guitar when I lived in Sydney learned a few tunes but it fell apart so gave it away.

For a couple of voyages I played with a band in the Pig.
My instrument was the double bass, an old tea chest with a pole and apiece of string.

Reminds me of the Skiffle Group we had abard the Winchester Castle John
The old Tea Chest with that Pole and String, the Washer Board etc,but they were very good,in fact on one occasion they even had the rare opportunity to play for the Passengers it was of course a one off.

Sailing with philippino crew, there was always a guitar on board and many of them were really good players and singers, party nights for birthdays always involved a good old sing song. We had one A.B. who not only looked like Elvis Presley but played guitar and sung like him, so maybe the myth that Elvis never died is true and he became a seaman.

On the cross channel ferries we had a engineer used to always take his guitar when the ship was in dry dock we were living on board he was an excellent guitarist but an absolutely awful singer

Gee Rob, sounds as if you died and came back again.
Hope Stella was good to you, did she give you the kiss of life?
