Road Trip
Heading away for a week on the Moto, meeting a mate from Macclesfield in Verdun Wednesday, spending a couple of days around the Verdun area , battlefields and war memorials. On this leg of the trip I am the young gun as Mike is 71 and me at 69. After that we are then heading on into Germany and meeting up with another group of 18 bikers from all corners of the UK and Ireland. Should be good fun. They had planned to do the Nurburgring, just checking and someone has cocked up as the dates we are in Germany are 11th to 14th May and it is closed. I may do it myself as it is open on the 15th which is a Monday, be foolish not to seeing as I am up that way. Hope the weather gods are kind.

Re: Road Trip
We have a big scooter rally here on the island on bank holidays, with the big ride round on the Sunday, all the local shops sold out of beer in no time, but have to say very little trouble from them, kt

Re: Road Trip
Funny thing that Capt
As my Friend of many Years ago also a Tommy Vega though ,on his Brand New BSA Golden Flash, with his Girlfriend on the back, took off at a speed from the Dance Club one Night ,and not far down the road hit a large Truck head on,it was one of the worst I have seen. Terrible carnage! Too horrible to try and explain! RIP Tommy and Sue!

Re: Road Trip
Well back home again after a cracking trip up through France into Germany back home via Switzerland and France. Met up with some friends from all over the UK and the ROI. I was really surprised at how cheap it is in Germany. A friend I sailed with years ago In Bibbys who now lives in Germany (German wife) moved there 2 years ago after he retired reckons it is now 30% cheaper to live there now than the UK. Certainly could well believe it looking at the likes of fuel costs , eating out and the price of a pint of excellent German beer. Diesel €1.21 a litre, €15.00 evening meal& not a sausage in sight, €3.60 a litre of beer. He was showing me photos of his house he bought last year, 4 bed detached nice big garden with a swimming pool €220,000. One thing I did not like was when heading down through southern Germany was very industrialised. That and not a very interesting landscape. Were we were near Koblenz and Cochem, along the banks of the Rhien some lovely villages with great pubs and restaurants. We were made to feel welcome everywhere we went. I will post a few photos in a day or two. Only let down was the weather could have been better as I had a few wet days.
