Christmas 1968
Christmas in Mombasa 1968 , opposite HMS Devonshire , The RN dressed with lights , our Chief Engineer was not to be outdone , we ran two reels of festoon cable and wedged 100 lamp fittings into it , connected it to the 240 V.DC and that night our 25 watt lamps shone with Christmas cheer , the next night at dusk RN lit up , they had changed to coloured lamps , well we didn't have any . the mate , bless him had a gallon can of red , green and yellow , so I spent the day dipping lamps in paint , that night we had coloured festoons , but they had a huge painted plywood santa climbing into one of their funnels floodlit , there is a time to give up

Re: Christmas 1968
Unfortunately one of the side effects of tetraplegia is a don't get my typing right and although I would be proven wrong I would actually say that I should have said Clan Mactavish . I don't believe that the company actually use the small c and the capital for the second part of the name at all .
But I've developed the sense of humour about being a disabled wheelchair user and having some very stiff hands if somebody wants to make mockery dead fine if they would like to share the disease too then they are welcome to have some of it

Re: Christmas 1968
read post #7 , to the best of my knowledge all Clan ships were MACX not MacX or McX ,
and please note , mockery of disabled people for poor typing is SERIOUSLY OFFENSIVE ,

Re: Christmas 1968
I Know John , I looked around the bay of 6 beds in Stoke Mandeville and thought ,, my problems are slight compared to the 3 guys on morphine , the staff there have heard it and seen it all so everyone works with you . I had to have a urodynamic test in Portsmouth so a pretty Philippine nurse has hold of me , and is stuffing pipework down the urethra , so to lighten the proceedings I said , long time since a pretty Philippine girl held me like that , she started laughing , and said , did she pump a litre of saline in there like I'm going too . but you have sense of humour so you can laugh whilst I PUMP your bladder up
