The Radio Office is still there on the old Queen Mary, same old equipment you used. Well worth a visit if you can to Long Beach, Cal.
Been a few times and going again next March, always stay for a few days.

Any chance you were on her in 1936, my father sent a goodwill message to her on her way down the Clyde, turned out to be the first message they had received since leaving Greenock. He made the radio himself, and used a kite to fly the aerial.

Hi David,
My favourite ship, a truly great liner. I started going to sea in 1948 and joined Cunard in 1957 /1971 in catering mostly cargo liners but did standby duties on QM. When the company chairman annouced she was being sold decided that I would sail with my wife as cabin class passengers on the round trip to NYC. Had a great time and the company treated us marvellously as did all my NYC buddies from immigration, customs police etc. Ive visted her in Long Beach and was a bit saddened, she seemed out of her element to me. I am a member of the Queen Mary association which has a couple of hundred members and regular get togethers in or near Southampton and quarterly newsletters, unfortunately I live in France so havent been yet. They are planning a visit to Long Beach shortly.
Best wishes Stuart
