All this reference to 'queens', some might get the wrong idea, I trust it is Liz of whom we speak?

    Hello,
My name is Annabel Stafford and I am writing a novel that is set in 1937 on a ship based on the MV Coptic. I am trying desperately to find any plans or cross sections or models of the Ship to give me a better idea of what she looked like as well as any memories of the Ship from the people that sailed on her. My grandmother Ann Fraser Thompson was on the coptic as ship's doctor sailing from Sydney to London in 1937 (if there were any records of the ship at that time - i think the Captain was James Avern- even better!). Any help you guys could give me would be very very gratefully received!!
    best wishes
    Annabel

Thank you, Frederick! Do you know where I might find some plans for cargo ships like the Coptic? Thank you again! Best wishes

Annabel, local Universities to where the ship was built can be a useful source of information for innumerable things, as the vessel was built by Swan Hunter, you could give Newcastle or Durham Universities a try. I have always found Universities a help in the past by writing to the Archivist

We escorted the Gothic with the Queen aboard in 54 as far as Aden, I was on the RFA Wave Baron on the way out to oil the fleet off Korea then on to Singapore.
