    Hi Robert.
I have looked through my book of ships sunk during the 2 world war and the only name near to what you have is the Belgravian sunk by U-372 Captain Heinz Joachim Neumann.
    Cheers Des

    SS Barrister [+1943]

Irish Wrecks On-Line - Barrister SS (No. 116)

This Barrister was in a convoy from North Africa to Glasgow when a submarine warning dispersed the ships. The Barister had engine failure and drifted ashore on a reef off Inisshark in fog on 4th January 1943. All aboard escaped and were assisted in Renvyle house hotel where her bell hangs in the bar. The Barrister was owned by Harrison´s and built in 1939 at Lithgow´s Port Glasgow ?

    SS Barrister [+1917]

Built as Saint Hugo for British & Foreign SS. Co., Ltd. (Rankin, Gilmour & Co., Ltd.), Liverpool. Sold in 1917 to Charente SS. Co., Ltd. (T. & J. Harrison), Liverpool and renamed Barrister to replace the vessel of the same name that was sunk by U 49 in May 1917.

    SS Barrister ? [+1918]

SS Barrister, built by Russell & Co., Port Glasgow in 1916 and owned at the time of her loss by Charente SS. Co. Ltd. (T. & J. Harrison), Liverpool, was a British steamer of 4.952 tons.

On September 19th, 1918, Barrister, on a voyage from Glasgow & Liverpool to West Indies with general cargo and mails, was sunk by the German submarine UB-64 (Ernst Krieger), 9 miles W1/2N of the Chicken Rock lighthouse, southwest of Isle of Man. 30 persons were lost.

If I see this correctly, he must have joined at least one other ship as apparently both the ship and rescue ship were torpedoed ?

Could the incident be earlier and the Barrister be the second rescue ?
