gday i was on the AKAROA the same time as you were . my name is terry criddle my brother mick was also onboard. as was a friend of ours barry beer . me and my brother and barry did two trips. we were onboard when christine killed her ( HUSBAND) richard dyball. we put richard down number one hatch in the freezer!. can you remember the crew being banned from barbados because taffy started a fight in a bar ashore and the bar got wrecked. also the scouse steward who used to dress up as superman dived out the window thinking he was on the ground floor and got it wrong. we were on the second and he broke his arm.

G'day Terence and welcome to the site. Good yarn there and no doubt you have a few more to relate. Do you have a list of your ships and maybe some dates? If so and you care to list them on site you may well get to hear from some others who knew you. So sit back with a cold one and enjoy the voyage.
Happy daze John in Oz.

hi Terence i was not on the Akaroa but was on the Tamaroa july 53 to march 54 it would seem as the two ships had the same life christmas 53 we had a blow back from the oil fired galley stove which took flames & smoke up in to the air vents lucky not to much damage but we asst cooks had a bit of a laugh when the little chef trying to wipe the foam of the christmas dinner turkey then in the refueling place at caracas ? bay (before we went in to the panama cannal one of the steward s started a fight with the big local workers yes time for us to leave the rum & cokes and back to the ship . safe trips mate a great way to remember the good days is this merchant navy site Lennon john
