    Default Type 45 Destroyers

It is reported that the type 45 destroyers will commence a refit programme early in 2018. The refit will overcome the present engine problems, which cause overheating and electrical blackouts.

Biggest part of that that makes me very sad is that nobody's head will roll for it . As far as I'm concerned cooling systems that don't cope is fundamental basic engineering .

MOD personnel probably got a big fat bonus for choosing the wrong system.

One starts to think did that bonus come in the form of a big fat brown envelope or a following holiday for the family I would sincerely hope not but I have my doubts having spent two decades in the shipping industry

Had a visit to HMS Daring in Leith to the Chiefs Mess for beer and nibbles as member of the City of Edinburgh Royal Naval Association , we were royalty entertained as usual, and on our tour round the ship, was very surprised to find out all the computers on board were running on Windows

Rob, all I know is that Bae were against an untried propulsion system. MOD overrode Bae on the choice of systems.
Results are there for all to see.

It could have been worse than Windows though the Royal Navy ship design based at Bath could have done their own which means they would have cost 10 times a price and still not be delivered
