Default Looking to find where a couple of ships were built

Hello all, I'm trying to find where these 2 ships were built:

    M.V. "GAREFOWL" 360562 built: 1978
    GAREFOWL - IMO 7235977 - ShipSpotting.com - Ship Photos and Ship Tracker

    and

M.V. "VALDIVIA" 385175 unknown build date. (operating up to the mid 90's. I think)

    any answer much appreciated.

    thank you

    Matt

Thank you Brian but this Valdivia appears to be called Valdivia in 1992 and your Valdivia was called Osor by then.

There are other Valdivia`s , but one was built 2008 in Gemany Container ship and one as a Bulker, but the Number is not the same.

Hi Brian, I have found a reference to the ship under Stirling Marine Ltd registered in Hong Kong with Off No 385175 but that is all I can find at present.

Matt have found Ocean Valour as follows :-

OCEAN VALOUR - IMO 6510875 - Off No 307879 - Bulk Carrier - built 1965 by Sir James Laing & Sons Ltd, Deptford for A/S Ivarans Rederi, Oslo - launched as Silverhow - 1970 renamed Sneholt - 1976 renamed Ocean Valour for Timor Shipping, Hong Kong - 1980 renamed Gen M Makleff - 1987 renamed Enera - 22,367 GT - LOA 645.5ft - Beam 85.3ft - Draught 38.2ft - single screw - 1987 broken up at Bangkok.

Still cannot find Valdivia !!! Are you sure the Off No is correct as it fails on everything I try. Do you have any other details of her or main dates for her to help identify her.

Matt are you getting these names out of your fathers discharge book. or paper discharges ? If so Port of registry nrt and GRT will also be shown. If a foreign flag doubt if would be in discharge book in the era you are I assume talking about, as was frowned upon from extreme heights for any British seaman to sail under foreign flag, so most took paper discharges. Today is totally different as that is just about all that exists is FOC. JS
