Default Request for information ? My father Patrick Slattery was lost at sea with his 11 other shipmates

My Father signed on the Ardgarry to sail from Swansea to Reon in France at the Seamans union hall in Belfast on the 20th of December 1962 the ship set sail from Belfast and was to be checked over in drydock before it sailed from Swansea on 28th December 1962 for Reon . The Ardgarry sank on the 29th December 1962 at 18:00 hours approx . After speaking to other family members to my understanding a lot of the crew did not receive their wages as the ship never completed its destination . The question I would like to know was the shipping company responsible for their wages and if not was the seamens union responsible for their wages ? Who where the crew employed by the Company McCallum & Sons from Greenock or The Seamans Union . Any information would be appreciated .

Thanks to Brian and Doc for the wonderful site Sincerely Patrick Slattery .

    Hello Patrick
Thank you for the compliments to both myself and Brian, however I am only the Asst Admin,Brian does most all the hard Work keeping the site in Ship shape ,but together we try and do whats best .

I have just read an Article on your Father and it was a sad loss as you only being so young at the time as well/
I am sure you will get a reply soon as to who was responsible for the Wages,
Just for me I would have thought that the Shipping Company would surely have been ?? I stand corrected
All the best and if we can assist in any way just holler!
    Cheers
