    Default Environment

Drax claims that by burning wood pellets they have reduced their CO2 emissions.
Latest evidence shows that using biomass pellets actually increase the Co2 emissions.
Drax response is that we plant trees to capture the Co2 emissions, the spokesman failed to disclose that it would take sixty years for the trees to mature and capture the CO2.
Drax received over 300m in green subsidies last year.
    Another con.

This is the one thing where the Green lobby fall down every single time they make up the figures and hide the subsidies or the timeframe

and not let us forget the increased CO2 emissions from all the vessels going backwards and forwards across the Atlantic, Pacific and Baltic seas to bring the pellets to ECUK ports for onward transport by rail to Drax.

Drax was built to be near the Selby, Yorkshire coalmines to reduce transport costs.

So what was the shortest journey for raw material Selby - Drax, has turned into the longest, Vancouver - Drax

I doubt the Greens or politicians looked at that aspect

We go around sticking up trees had a greatly increased rate than we ever did and as fast as we are putting them up they are chopping down and burning forests in the Far East to grow palm sugar . We grow more evergreens per year than we ever did and the South Americans clear more land for cattle . I sometimes look at Great Britain and to are similar extent the Western world and think that no matter how many times we put a patch on somebody else does something totally contrary to good sense

Brazil has replanted millions of trees to replace those cut down.
Here in Oz back in the 80's there was a gov plan to plant 1 million trees, still planting.

In Sweden they are now burning waste, the stuff China will no longer take, the heat powers steam turbines to produce power.

Here in Oz, as well as parts of France, Canada, Spain and USA we have terrible bush fires, millions of tons of Co2 go into the atmosphere, never hear a word from the 'Greens' about that.

The total product of their distorted thoughts are based on Socialistic ideology, something that may look good on paper but in reality is about as much use as the proverbial on a bull.

The whole issue of so called 'Climate Change' is based on political science not reality.

The climates are Tropical, Sub Tropical , Moderate and Antartic etc.
Weather patterns however give those of the Green and other groups the chance to say' we told you so'.

Today we had a global scientist on TV saying how bad the bush fires were this year, all according to him the result of climate change.

Odd thing is despite a very dry, almost drought like conditions, this year has seen one of the lowest bush fire seasons ever.

They will take what information suits them and use it to satisfy their argument.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

On a business trip to Denmark I think probably over 20 years ago now there were signs of damage in some of the forest station Where parts of trees were definitely Brown and burnt looking where's the Danish but solely down do British coal powered power stations emitting high levels of sulphur from burning coal . My reaction was why couldn't we fit exhaust gas scrubbing to take the sulphur oxides out dissolve them in water and collect the Acid , there was no mention in those days of carbon dioxide , since then the remedy didn't look at fixing the chimney it looked at fixing the fuel

Rob, there are now clean ways of burning coal which Japan, china and India are installing.
Cola, if washed and the rubbish removed, can be a clean burning fuel if the heat level is correct.

I did read many years ago where some of the London smog problems were caused by the manner in which the coal was used.
