We never looked at efficient ways of burning coal we just looked at cheap oil coming in from abroad our deep mined coal was getting very expensive to get out henge Harold Wilson starting the pit closures in the 1960s . A lot of the power stations used to pulverize the coal so I would have thought they getting the air to fuel ratio right was easier all you had to do was then scrub the exhausts and sort out the CO2
