    Hello everybody,
    My dad sailed on ships called Pipiriki and Hauraki,he loved his time in New Zealand,Does anybody have any information on them,thanks Gill

    The Pipiriki, was in Melb. with us .(Cragmoor,) Mid-April and again,round -about September-Oct. 1950.

    Good happy Crowd , to meet ashore ,from Her.
    Later a similar ship the Ashburton , was there ,round the same time.
    Though Memory plays Tricks. Always remember the Funnel Markings ,as" The Hungry Goose Line" (Trinder -Andersons)
    Do recall, the Crew would refer to it as ",The P.eye -P .eye . R eye K eye.

    I did one voyage on the Paparoa sister ship to the Papanui and the Pipariki. All 10,000 tons with accomodation fopr if I recall correctly 8 passengers. general cargo with some refrigerated holds. Good ships with a good company, enjoyed my time with them very much.

    Very Happy Ship,,(State of the Art) compared to the,more than usual,number of Bristol Channel, cargo ,jobs. Usually Coal-burning, and often "On Your Whack"
    Provisions.

    Number of A.B's. out of Avonmouth, ,making . A Third and fourth Trip. Very Popular Bos'n. Irishman, .Married and living in S.Sheilds.
    Jimmy Milburn .? Think. Company Man ,anyway.
    Capt Hogg, (Wife ,aboard on the first Trip.)
