Default Italian merchant ship, Grande America.

    Italian merchant ship, Grande America.

The crew of HMS Argyll has saved all members aboard a cargo ship after its containers and cars caught fire off the coast of France.

Royal Navy personnel responded to a mayday from the 28,000-tonne Italian merchant ship, Grande America, in the Bay of Biscay, around 150 miles southwest of Brest.

    To moderators
K at T posted the same info in his post headed Grande America today after I put up this post yesterday. If K at T is agreeable, to avoid duplication is it possible to combine both posts?

Threads merged John - thank you - now no duplication. It would certainly help if members used the ' Check If Already Posted ' facility when forming a new Thread, to avoid duplicity.

No worries John, guess I missed it yesterday.
I did check prior to posting using the site
facility but, it showed nothing under
    Grande America.

    Regards Keith.

The Grande America has now sunk and later reports say oil is leaking from the sunken vessel

The sinking of such ships does untold damage to the environment.
Oil from this will be the biggest problem, no doubt spreading over a large area.
