Re: Falls of Clyde
I thought it was due to be picked up by a heavy lift ship at any moment I am always dubious on any of these projects they all seem to cost an awful lot of money and they all seemed to go well over the estimated costs to a point where without Lottery funding or whatever they become a non viable proposition but it would be a shame to have travelled this far with it to see it not come all the way through

Re: Falls of Clyde
My understanding is they found two underwater holes which have been patched when you're dealing with metal that old it just starts to disintegrate that was one of my concerns when they were on about taking it back to Scotland as a floating exhibit back and keeping it floating I have seen ships that are approximately 100 years old and the metal work left me quite surprised that it was highly patched and if you think that has sat in the seawater for an awful long time with no paint treatment whatsoever I would think you can probably push your finger through the side

Re: Falls of Clyde
Once again there is the need to reassure supporters, we have not given up the fight, to save the ship, we are still engaged here in the U.K. with both philanthropic and possible commercial support, to find a last-minute solution.
We now have two offers of a lift operation that can happen from June onwards, but the current conditions imposed won't even consider these options. We need to wait and see how the auction finishes and if as suspected there are no bidders, we will have already approached harbors asking for discussions if this is the outcome.
Surely it's better than the Hawaiian taxpayer doesn't need to be out of pocket to an estimated, up to $1.5m, if it can be avoided?
Keep supporting our effort to insure the ship!

Re: Falls of Clyde
UPDATE:
A nice storyline in the Glasgow Herald, telling of our progress and vision for the ship, the environment, communities and 'clean shipping'.
