    Default Nautilus fund

I think I said earlier in the year that it is impossible for me to get in the bath . That problem was resolved by the Nautilus Welfare Fund who paid for my bath to be removed and a walk-in shower to be fitted in its place despite the fact that I last went to see in 1986 but can still produce my discharge book and got a very generous grant just out of interest the bank collapse in 2009 wiped out my capital.

I managed to finance myself a pavement warrior those four wheeled things that grumpy old men and grumpy old women knock over pedestrians with on the pavement at 8 miles an hour . To get off and on it I need a walking frame which means that once mounted on my Trusty Steed I can't get off until I can get back home again on the recommendation of a friend who's in similar circumstances I contacted a charity called remap which stands for retired engineers make all possible and they have now fitted manufactured and designed a bracket arrangement to hold my walking frame on my pavement warrior absolutely brilliant

What are the hardest things that you have to cross is that nobody likes going to a charity because you feel in your own heart that you're admitting that you need help which is a very hard thing to do well I swallowed my pride and I have had an absolutely wonderful success with the charities that I've dealt with

So I want to say a public thank you to all those people that do charitable good works because without them there be a lot of people like me in a bigger mess than we are in already

And people like me who don't want to go to charity then my advice is to split the pride and do what's best for yourself and every contact I've had with the charity all the people that work for them case workers etc are absolutely brilliant to deal with

Thank you remap for making something that isn't available on the market and a huge thank you for the Nautilus Welfare Fund I can sit in that shower 4 hours and hours and hours

    Hello Rob
Yes many Charities do great work, and I take my Hat of to them all as a lot of them as you know do all their Work for Free, here in Aussie we have many like that and the people who work and run them are great people,if it wasn't for them so many many People would be absolutely down and out.
To approach a charity is not demeening at all,it is there to assist,so as you say use them if you are in need.
Thus far (And I thank the good Lord) both myself and the Wife have not had any cause to approach them ,but we do know that they are there should the time come, hopefully not though.
    Cheers

#1... Rob, the Nautilus is the old Numast I surmise. Going back to their origins. I think I was a member on much reduced fees at the age of 16 when it was the old MNAOA. And later Numast. I was always a member up until leaving the UK in 1991. I was also a member of either the MNI or the MIN. Can’t remember which . However I soon dropped them when they refused to print an article I wanted published them saying they might get sued , what a bunch of pansies . The same article Numast had no compunction on printing. I never had recourse to rely on them for money , but all other assistance have received from them be it either moral or otherwise , so haveno bad word to say about them. Pleased however they saw fit to assist you in your plight, there is plenty of good will if you look for it. I had reason just before Xmas To give a cheque for 200 dollars to an old lady who could not afford a new battery for her gopher, such a small sum by today’s standards, but it made her Xmas for her. Cheers JWS
