Default The Ferry That Sails Itself

Has anyone seen THIS item on the BBC News. The beginning of the robot ships. A bit like Ships Simulator but with real ships in real time.

" This is your Captain speaking from the complete safety of my office in Helsinki - we have a fire in the Engine Room, so I suggest you break the glass and get the hoses out of their boxes, I will try and put water on deck for you to fight the fire but the pump is in the Engine Room. If it does not start I suggest you break out the life-jackets and jump in the sea. I will alert the rescue services - I would just like to thank you all for travelling on our robotic ferry service, the future of waterborne transport "

Crewless, automated, electric, this is the way of the future and will save so much money in wages and agro from staff.

All such are great achievements and will serve the people well, well that is until the internet goes down, or the auto pilot takes a funny turn and who knows what will happen if the power goes off?

What about an abandon ship or much more likely a medical emergency?

That is actually the 2nd test of a crewless vessel. Last week the Norwegian sailed an automous ferry in and out of 3 different ports.
