    Default Cunard

Just been listening on the news that Cunard are now having problems with registration. You may recall they re registered in Bermuda some years ago, the reason so that t htey could carry out marriages. Apparently the do conduct same sex marriages, but now Bermuda has repealed it same sex marriage rules, and there are calls for them to re register back in the UK. Don't think that this is fake news, but watch this space, kt

When Cunard flagged out to Bermuda, they said it was because, ship weddings were a million dollar business,
I was on the Queen Elizabeth 18 months later, I asked the Purser how many weddings have you had? he says None,
so I asked , how many weddings have you got booked , he says , None.
So much for a million dollar market.

    A tax Dodge , more likely ???

On the old Queen Elizabeth and the Caronia we had a few weddings amongst the crew (or to be PC correct same sex marriages) however none of them were legal but they were always good for massive piss up and a hangover to die for the next morning.

Most of the newer cruise ships have a special, 'department' for marriages to take place.
On most it is known by the name of 'Hearts and Minds'

Get a good work out as a storage room and I was told by one staff captain that any such marriage on them has to be registered and retaken in the country of the persons being married.

Cunard is too powerful to allow such a thing to change any of its registration status.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
