    Default Bibby lines, Yorkshire

This vessel recently featured in an article in the Shields gazette and on the Tynebuilt Ship's website there's some good pictures of her. The yard is now part of A & P, Hebburn. Think the drydock was featured in the documentary on t.v. where the p&o ferry was shown undergoing a major refit,

I did two trips on the Yorkshire in 76 /77. It was one of the worst built ships ever built, it is little wonder the tyne yards went bust. The only good things on board were the Sulzer main engine on the cockem boiler controls.
I did the guarantee drydock in Lisbon, it must of cost Swans a fortune , almost all the cargo valves had to be changed due to corrosion and leaking.
The vibration was so bad we had to slow to half speed every morning so the radio operator could send and receive messages , to try to stop the vibration
the stitched the accommodation block to the upper engine room casing , but this made no difference. The list of faults is endless.
