USCG Final report of El Faro tragedy
I hope this link works as it reveals some serious deficiencies in both the Company's Management, decision's taken on board but also most telling by not only USCG Inspectors but also Class surveys. To allow a lesser freeboard after modifications without a full survey and re-calculation of stability criteria etc. and to have hold ventilation inlets to be placed so close to the w/line and outboard of the side shell, with no means of them being made watertight is to me, beyond belief.
