Re: Harmony of the Seas
Looks like she did not take any tugs to assist in berthing. Bit strange that for first call of such a large vessel, even given all those thrusters etc. fitted.
Those Port of Rotterdam vessels are anti-pollution vessels.

Re: Harmony of the Seas
Latest info shows that the Lifeboats hold 377 people each, can you imagine what time that will take to board lets say 300 elderly overweight, movement restricted people, when you see the time it takes just 10 of them boarding your local bus. Think I'll stay ashore!
Total lifeboat capacity 6786, ships capacity 8800 +/-, rest of requirement is made up of liferafts, now lets say that 9 of the 18 lifeboats cannot be launched because of list what happens to the +/- 3400 passengers without a lifeboat seat,

Re: Harmony of the Seas
All aboard the £800m 'floating building site':
Passengers' fury over closed attractions, debris in kids' pools and all-night drilling as world's biggest cruise ship Harmony of the Seas' first trip isn't all plain sailing.
The 227,000 tonnes luxury ship has been branded a 'serious risk to all passengers' by outraged customers
Footage shows closed attractions, overflowing urinals and exposed extension cords and hoovers left lying around
One passenger claimed drilling went on through the night and said ninety per cent of kids' attractions were closed
It is claimed that dozens of 'very angry' customers are refusing to leave the ship until they receive a refund
The world's biggest cruise ship set sail for Rotterdam from Southampton on a four-night trip on May 22

Re: Harmony of the Seas
Just a thought.
Many of those initial cruises lasting only a couple of days, for new cruise ships, many of the passengers are on freebies as travel agents etc. invited by the cruise companies to view and review the latest edition to the cruise companies fleet. Wonder how many were actual fare paying passengers.

Re: Harmony of the Seas
I think the cruise ships are reaching saturation point, a number of people i know , who have had cruise holidays for many years, have now stopped, because they feel they have been conned. The cruise companies advertise the cruise cheaply, and then when you are on board captive, charge for everything extra, also insurance companies are beginning to load the insurance cover, due to the high claims coming from these passengers, and the excessive charges from the cruise companies. Never been on one , and never will, kt

There is an interesting short video of her, with all the complaints etc on the BBC news page, certainly looks a mess, and apparently most were fare paying passengers. Kt

Re: Harmony of the Seas
Ah,the days when one could go away for an exclusive relaxing cruise away from the hoi polloi with like minded fellow passengers and credible discreetly professional crew.
Now one can go cruising with enough rabble to populate a small town, and enough kids to fill your local school. How absurdly spoiled and frightening life is becoming.
'Disharmony' of the Seas is not for me...no matter how cheap .
