    Chief Executive. 89,825. Per annum

    Bricklayer. 25,201
    Sales assistant 16,641
    Bar staff. 14390

    JWS.
On these figures many are paid below the Australian minimum wage which is about $19 an hour now, think UK is around the $11 mark.
Bar staff at that rate are on about $1350 an hour.
Bricklayers here can demand up to $1 per brick laid and a good one can do up to 1000 a day.
Even sales assistants on that scale are below our min wage at about $17.6 per hour.

Little wonder many do it hard there.

Your min is better than I thought but if correct has only been in place for a few years now, here in Oz it became law about 1985.

there is still an uncontrolled economy where you find the cash in hand brigade , fruit picking , tarmac laying etc , where workers may be illegally in the country , working for very low wages , also the time and half , and double time are becoming rarer for weekends and overtime
