Re: .....of Cabbages and Kings
Meant to add to the above, I will be most interested how he is treated if, and when he visits the UK, bearing in mind before he became president , a ban was muted by those in power. So now the cleft stick, roll out the red carpet ??, meet the Queen ?, interesting diplomatic get out ?,. We will see, kt

Re: .....of Cabbages and Kings
Roger your reply is open and honest, pity some politicians could not do the same.
Again we had an overseas correspondent on the news Sunday, his comments of what is currently occurring was interesting to say the least.
It would appear a number of Democrats, some very senior, have called for the ' witch hunt' as Trump calls it to stop. They are concerned that the constant guess work by the media is giving the USA a bad name overseas.
As was pointed out by one senior member, 'a few words taken out of context by the media can start a war'.
He is I agree not well suited to presidential parlance but as far as we know meeting with those from Russia is no crime and what was said in private should remain so.
As was also pointed out there would be no classified information he would have as such is only passed to him on a needs to know basis. Those in charge of such information keep it very quiet for the very reason they want no others to know. However when required they will conveniently 'leak' information to suit their own ends.

Re: .....of Cabbages and Kings
Ref #3...A few statements from an article written by a well know columnist in today's Western Australian."In fact the media question few anti Trump claims in desperation to write their dream story". " The 3 letters that lead to Comeys sacking and prove Trump had no choice, the first is from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who worked for Bill Clinton". " Rosenstein cited a long list going back to the Ford administration who had condemned Codey". " Having read Rosensteins report Sessions wrote to Trimp recommending Comey be sacked". "Trump then told Comey he was sacked because it was essential to find new leadership for the FBI that restores public trust and confidence.."Curiously just a week before his sacking, Comey testified on oath that he had never been told to stop anything for political reasons. These are just a few statements taken at random from a full page story, if out of context it is exactly the same as the press does.It seems past presidents haven't had the nerve to sack the man if he was so undesirable, shades of. J. Edgar Hoover. JWS.

Re: .....of Cabbages and Kings
Hi John (Happy Daze)
Thankyou for your reply.
It's little wonder some senior, wiser, Democrat congressmen and senators would prefer to see an end to the non-stop media attack upon Donald. Too much could easily create a wave of sympathy they clearly don't believe he deserves.
When Trump arranged the private meeting with the two Russians he should have known it would attract the attention of a hostile media just waiting for him to make a wrong move. He didn't disappoint them. If (and I repeat, if ) during the course of that meeting Trump imparted information harmful to the interests of the American public (whom he is sworn to serve) then, surely, they have every right to know. If, however, Donald got carried away, unable to resist an urge to impress his guests with a little intelligence tit-bit, it may not have been criminal at all, simply bluddy irresponsible. I find any suggestion that Trump, wittingly or otherwise, was party to a U.S. Intelligence ploy to mislead the Russians highly unlikely, which doesn't leave much else. What does seem strange, if Donald does have tapes of his meeting with Lavrov and Kislyak (as he intimates) and they are not self-incriminating, why on earth hasn't he produced them before now, if only to silence the damaging accusations of the media and save himself a lot of grief ? That leaves. James Comey, whose disclosures next week could open a can of worms and throw the whole thing wide open.
...........Roger

Re: .....of Cabbages and Kings
Keith from what we have seen so far in the media there is little that would warrant such action.
I saw his speech on TV from the Saudi Arabia site and considered it to be very rational as it would appear did many of the international leaders there.
His loquatious verbosity, mostly useless and futile as seen during his election campaign it would appear had spilled over to the Oval office of the White House. From this, even one word, taken by a frantic media feeding like a frenzy of sharks on the smallest tit bit, may well see him in some trouble.
He is not a member of the 'club', those international leaders that rule the globe supposedly on our behalf. His policies are fully directed at the USA and concepts such as turning away trade from China does not bode well for the other members.
But of concern is the lack of constraint placed on him by the senior public servants who in most democratic societies control all that occurs.
The comments printed in the West Australian paper maybe show that previous presidents have been controlled in what they do, who they meet and who they dismiss, whereas Donald being his own man will do as he considers best for the USA.
