Re: SS Andria
I was a Jr. Engineer onboard the SS Andria from June 1962 to January 1963. As I recollect, I came off Articles in Jan. 1963 prior to the SS Andria being sold. I then joined the SS Assyria. The Andria and Alsatia were sister ships and were originally the Silver Briar & Silver Plane before being purchased by Cunard. They had a unique shape, having two funnels. Only one functioned as a boiler exhaust. The other was the Captain's cabin!
My wife and I were onboard the QE2 in 1987 when we read of the demise of what was the Andria in New Orleans. A sad end!!
