As Brian says, go with the right company and there will be no problems.

Problem with Carnival, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean is that they do tend to cater for young families, the majority of whom are excellent in their behavior.
But they also tend to attract some of the 'rat bag' brigade.
Worse one here in Oz is P#O as they want to attract mainly the 18 to 25 age group who will spend most of the day at the bar. Good profit there.

We have done 18 cruises and only on one was there any problems. Couple of fights between just two who were put off at the next port
Princess do tend to attract the over 45 brigade and a few families.

Security is good and when you see some of the guys they employ you can see why, very friendly but do not get on the wrong side of them
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Pensioner can spend as they wish, the reason so many cruise is simple.
They have the time and money to do so, having spent a life time working then why not?

All this disposable income, so what it is nothing to do with you or any one else how we spend our money.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Spent mine paying mortgage off John, so now owe no one anything. Many of the so called hard up ones used their big payouts probably to go cruising on the high seas causing fights like recently, and are more than likely back now complete with begging bowl. I have been on my uppers as well at various times, but debts of whatever nature came first. Cheers JWS

Did not look very pretty to say the least,
As you know I have been against such Cruises and this just confirms it !
If you have enough cash, then by all means go on a nice Cruise that as said caters for the Elderly, that may be the answer! But Oh! They too can make a Yahoo! LOL
    Cheers

I wont be in no hurry to step aboard any of those type of Cruises.

After spending 43 years at sea the last thing on my agenda is going on a cruise.20180209_154502(0).jpg20180209_154516[1]_LI.jpgThis is my preferred method of seeing places of interest these days , just picked this up last weekend, End of March /early April under the Pyrenees meander down through Spain meet up with friends in Javea /Moraira ride the mountain roads and through the valleys and back home again. In May heading to Germany meeting up with friends from the UK & ROI, Black forest then onto the Nuremburg ring. Heading back via Switzerland & Northern Italy. In August heading for the UK N Wales again and on over to Ireland for a couple of Road Race meetings and then doing the Wild Atlantic Way (West Coast of Ireland) back via Cork meeting up with some old Bibby mates and then home. I may have to ask the boss about the September meet up with the lads again, heavy hints being thrown they want to do the route Napoleon ummmm!!!

I think the lower end cruise market is reaching saturation point, they are marketing cheaper and cheaper deals, launching new cruise boats almost daily, something has to give, and from reports i have received here in UK, the food is the first thing that is being cut back. Several of the people i know cruise 2-3 times a year, and are now saying the food is not good. It seems the marketing strategy is very much like the old channel island ferries from Portsmouth used to be, include in your fare a bottle of spirits, and 1,5 litres of wines think that was the amounts ?, you only got that on the return leg. So once they got you on board try to bleed you for money, eating on board very expensive, casinos, cinemas, shops etc. Not for me anyway, kt
