    Hi Tom.
Welcome to the site hope you enjoy all the banter and tall tales.
Was the Otaio a cadet ship? Or have I got it wrong. You would have done a few trips to Aus and NZ.
    Cheers Des

Sorry to take so long to reply Des. Yes the Otaio was a cadet ship. I spent a lot of time in NZ and Australia with NZS. Great days.

    Hi Tom.
Thought she was. I was on the NZ coast from 57 to 66 before that did many a run to Aus, first four trips on the Trevose to Aus.
    cheers Des

    Tom
My cousin was a junior engineer on the manapouri at that time you were on her. He was actually an Engineer Graduate employed by Lloyd's and was at sea gaining sea time for his 2nd's and Chiefs tickets prior to taking up a full time position as a Lloyd's surveyor. I visited him on board inKG5 when I was a cadet on the Beaverfir and recall that she was a smart new vessel with good accommodation.
