    Hi Charles,
I sailed on a lot of those ships on deck.

    I wrote a few stories of the voyages in `SEAFARING STORIES`thread ``in `Swinging the Lamp` forum.

my brother was on the HERDSMAN,

    I WAS ON.....

Zent.Santander, Egyptian. Adelaide Star, Carinthia, Memphis, Parthia and Media, at different times.

    Cheers
    Brian

Hi Cappy, when I joined Atlantic Causeway all the titles had changed. The bosun was PO1D and the ABs were GP1s which I think stood for General Purpose Grade 1. Then when I went to ACT 3 the bosun was CPO. Don't know why the changes Best regards Charlie.

    Hi Charlie.
Welcome to the site, good line up of ships there, looks like you had the best until the last.
You are right with the title, I went to sea in 49 and the Bosun was called bosun, but in their small mess-room where the Donkey man Chippie and Bosun ate, he was the CPO, an unused title at the time.
    Cheers Des
