    Default Looking for George Curry

I met George when he was aboard the Blue Star Lines "Timaru Star" in the early 70's. At that time he was the third engineer. We formed a wonderful friendship and he called me every time he arrived in the Port of Vancouver. I would go to Vancouver every time and spent many wonderful days with him but due to unforeseen circumstances, I missed his last visit and have not been able to track him down since. Please help me find a dear old friend with any information you can help me with.
    Very much appreciated,

    Gloria Cote (nee Garrison)

    Hello Keith,

Thank you for your offer of assistance. I'm afraid I'm not very good with computers but I have tried every other way I know of to find George.

When I met George I was a teenager and I guess he would have been around 30. He was a 3rd engineer but the crew list indicates that he was promoted over the years.

He sailed from England (not sure where) aboard the "Timaru Star" and docked in The Port of Vancouver. If memory serves me, the visits were a few days to a week in length.

His address at that time was 64 Pigeon House Road, Ringsend, Dublin 4, Ireland. I've checked Google Earth a few times and looks like things have changed over there, no houses to be seen. I phoned him a few times in Dublin but I no longer remember the phone number.

I have been looking for George for over 40 years and I fear more and more every day that I may never hear about him. I've checked everywhere I can think of. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

I could add my phone number and address to my post if you think that would help but unfortunately, I will be moving within the next couple of months so I will leave you my email, which will go with me.

Thanks again for any assistance you can offer.

    Gloria

    Hi Gloria,

Initially, it is best not to add to many of your own personal details, address, phone number etc.

It is a public forum and though I have now copied your e.mail address, I would hope that our
    moderators will remove it ASAP.

Quite late, night time here. I will post more in our morning.

We do have a lot of success but no guarantees.

Also please be advised he may not wish to be found or
could be seeking you the same.

Early days and later you may find and use the site private messaging / mail or
when you have settled in more own e.mail if needs be.

    Wishing you all the best.

    Regards,

    Keith.

As opposed to possibly - Currie, McCurry, Curran, Corry etc.

    Thank you so much.
If it helps, he lived in Dublin, Ireland at the time and would have been around 30 +/- back then.
He was a 3rd engineer at that time but according to the crew lists, he was promoted later.
If I can give you any more specific information please let me know.
I truly appreciate your offer to help.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Of the few facts I have are that his name was CURRY and was from Dublin.

I was not aware of the Britannic, I only now about the Timaru Star.

One tidbit that may or may not help, he is a distant relative of 'KID CURRY' the famous American gunslinger.

    Warmest Regards,
    Gloria
