Default Please help me ifentify this pennant

    Hi everyone.

The picture shows a pennon which was found wrapped inside a Colonial Jamaican ensign which was itself wrapped in a plastic bag. It belonged to my father-in-law who is sadly deceased.

The problem is that after 2 days of internet searching I’m still no wiser as to what it is or what it represents. My father-in-law was a Merchant Seaman between 1953 and 1958.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

To me it is the pennant of a shipping companies House flag which many companies produced, even to this day. They would normally only be seen in the office's of that company decorating the desks of the staff. At one time I had two, a Canadian Pacific one and a Stolt Tankers one. I also had a. Jolly Rogers one for my desk on board along with my pirates of the Carribbean t shirt that stated that " the beatings will continue untill discipline improves", Which was better than my pal who had "Goofy" emblazoned on his ships 10cm. Radar scanner.
As to what company the pennant refers to, sorry no idea, have a look in the house flag forum.

Totally agree Bill. It is the house flag of Moss Hutchinson Line. However I think you will find they were based in Liverpool. If my memory serves me right they were on the 4th floor of Martins Bank Building whilst Bibby Line were on the 7th floor.
