Re: Captain David McPherson Ramsay
Hi Vernon,
This is indeed my dad!! I also, do not have any real information about his death-and I am sure I do not have the death certificate. I'm sure dad was on the Grey Hunter or the Grey Warrior (Japanese tankers) when the accident happened. I still have it firmly in my head having to go to Aberdeen airport to collect his briefcase and personal effects from the Chief Engineer who was flown home from Texas. They had been out for dinner together and he obviously had witnessed the tragedy. We live in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and a number of Ben Line personnel, at that time, came from this area. In fact, I still live at Port Elphinstone where dad was born.

Re: Captain David McPherson Ramsay
Hi Brian,
Again, this is incredible and many thanks for the info. I spent the whole day yesterday on my laptop and got through a lot!! All really thanks to this site. However, I did also get a link from Aline Dobbie who I met in Edinburgh last weekend at an Inspiring India symposium, held t The Nomad's Tent. She sent me the link for this site and the Kolkata cemetery-they have a FB page. It is called the Kolkata Scottish Heritage Trust and has lots of photos of the restoration work being done there. I did get in touch with them yesterday but these links above will probably be far more reliable so I will do this in the morning and let you all know. The trust is headed by a member of the Bruce family from Broomhall House near Dunfermline-as in the descendants of Robert the Bruce!! two of the current Earl's relatives were Viceroys in India and also buried there. So my grandfather in in good company!!! I'm just away to open your links now.
